Pacquiao vs Marquez

We are boxing fans around here. I blame my brother. He can analyze any fight, any pair of fighters, and give awesome predictions about how their styles will match up, who will have what advantages, etc. If I can't remember who a fighter is, he can list off all the fights they've had and how they went, pretty much round-by-round. Lol. We've got boxing fan friends too. So we have boxing parties when there's a big fight on Pay-Per-View.

Saturday night was a fight that I wasn't even going to watch, Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez. They've already fought 3 times and I felt like they were running the rematch idea into the ground. No one needs to see them fight 4 times! But the fights have been close, one was actually a draw (that rarely happens), Marquez got robbed of a win one time, etc. They're actually really exciting to watch, but everyone in the boxing world has been distracted with the idea of a Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather fight. They've been dodging each other for years, not able to come to an agreement on fighting terms. Pacquiao has been built up as the good, nice guy... the underdog. Mayweather has been built up as the trash-talking bad guy, never been defeated. People have been calling out for a Pacquiao/Mayweather fight. So, when Pacquiao and Marquez fought again... people were like, ugh... come on!

Well, I'm so glad we met up with some friends and caught that fight because it was AWESOME. Best fight I've seen in a long time. Marquez has never been able to knock Pacquiao down before, but he ended up knocking him down once and then knocking him OUT! Even after getting knocked down himself and with blood pouring out of his nose, making it hard to breathe. So much for a Mayweather fight now! No one will want to see it now - we want a Pacquiao vs Marquez part 5!!

We didn't have a video camera going, but I'm sure we looked something like this:

Zay was screaming, "He's dead! He's dead!" I'm hitting him, yelling, "Don't say that!!!" Because they were checking his pulse on the mat. Everybody jumped up and screamed. I was freaking out! I yelled, "I'm too soft for this!!" My heart was beating so fast and I couldn't believe what I'd just seen. I was shaking, waiting for them to wake Pacquiao up. He was taken to a hospital later, but only after they tried to have a post-fight interview with him. Poor guy! He was obviously not fully awake yet and they were asking him a bunch of questions.

A side note, Marquez's nose was bleeding so bad, he looked like a Zombie... that had just eaten. It was disgusting.

We were laughing so hard at people's reactions to the knockout in the audience. You could tell which people just won a lot of money from a bet and who just lost a lot of money. We had to rewind it over and over and watch the knockout again and again. It was just a *perfect* shot. Pacquiao was convulsing on the floor:

Thought it was funny that Mitt Romney and his wife had some amazing seats at the fight. They definitely reacted with more poise than the people around them. They just kinda sat there like, "Ooh that looks bad." Ha ha. Made me wonder if they watched boxing much. Manny Pacquiao's wife was panicking and yelling and running to the ring. There was a random old guy with his hand stretched out by Pacquiao's head (see picture above)... we cracked up about his reaction. Like, what is he doing? Trying to catch him?

The odds of Marquez knocking Pacquiao out were 35 to 1, I heard. I'm not a betting woman but DANG. Ahhhh, the road not taken. Ha ha ha.

Kal was so sleepy. Up until this point, he always fell asleep early when we had boxing parties:

But this time he was running around till midnight with the other kids. He got kind of scared when everyone started yelling at the end of the fight. Ha ha. Poor little dude.
